Atz to bring marine engineering expertise to Seawork 2017
For the first year, AtZ Marine technologies will be exhibiting at Seawork – one of the leading European Commercial and Workboat exhibitions. Experts in specialised marine engineering equipment, AtZ bring over 40 years’ global experience in larger marine vessels to the workboat and commercial audience of Seawork.
Providing equipment sales, support and consultation services to the marine, power generation and petrochemical sectors, AtZ are an established supply, service and calibration provider of propeller shaft lines, seals and bearings, bilge water discharges oil in water monitoring and filtration. Their services can be provided in dry dock or on vessel and also include underwater dive repair. Alongside their service and repair capability, AtZ have a dedicated team of marine engineers who provide consultation and project support to a wide range of maritime customers and applications.
Whilst in the past the main focus for AtZ has been on larger marine vessels, their products and consultation services are also applicable to operators within the workboat and commercial sectors, and are able to address a vast range of technical problems facing this type of vessel.
Applying their extensive knowledge to smaller vessels, AtZ were recently asked to investigate a series of sterntube seal failures on two new military patrol vessels, recommending a design change which was then adopted by the entire fleet. Both vessels have since been sailing for a further 12 months without incident.
The offshore market has also benefited from their experience when AtZ were asked to investigate a series of bow thruster leakages, resulting in the recommendation of an ABCON© oil additive solution that quickly and efficiently resolved the problem.
Experts in IMO pollution control standards of oil in water discharge, and recently coming to the aid of an inoperative oily water separator on board a super yacht docked in the US, AtZ dispatched an experienced engineer who repaired and calibrated the 15ppm monitor to the satisfaction of the port inspector. AtZ also manage the majority of Deckma 15ppm oily water monitors for the Royal Navy, RFA and HM Customs and Revenue vessels, ensuing they fully comply to both IMO MEPC 107 (49) and 60 (33) standards as applicable.
AtZ were also approached by a ship-owner to investigate a vessel with rising tin and lead in the stern tube oil, which after instrumentation checks and investigation, was concluded a failure of the main shaft bearing. The vessel was then dry-docked to enable AtZ to complete a full investigation with a report of severe fatigue failure and delamination to the aft end of the bearing being issued. To address the failure AtZ managed the design, machining and installation of the new bearing to ensure a fully operational system.
This vast range of expertise available from AtZ enables them to not only provide rapid response to emergency repairs but also offers customers planned maintenance, strategic stock holding, engineering project management and complete end to end solution sales.
Working as the sole UK agent for Deckma Hamburg, the oil-in-water monitoring specialists, the organisation has also expanded its portfolio by becoming the sole UK argents for AEGIR-Marine (seals and service) and ACM Bearings (composite), along with new products such as, ABCON (additives), Wavestream (filtration) and Tribomar (oil and fuel analysis tools).
AtZ will be exhibiting within the Pacific Orange hall, stand PO5 alongside Marine and Industrial Transmissions. MIT the Driveline Experts, who since 1974 have been designing, supplying and servicing transmissions and driveline systems across the UK, becoming a centre of excellence in driveline systems providing customers with full product life cycle support from system design, supply, commissioning, maintenance, repair, spares, and overhaul or replacement.
